    Dear Sand Point Families,

Welcome back to another school year of learning and personal growth here at Sand Point Elementary School. We hope you had a fantastic summer! We are very excited to connect with all of our new families and reconnect with our returning families. You have our commitment to working with you to ensure that your child can be highly successful here at Sand Point Elementary.

We would like to share a few important dates with you. Our Welcome Back Ice Cream Social will be Thursday, August 30th from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Please come to the Welcome Back Ice Cream Social to connect with other families and our staff before we start our school year. This year we will be mailing home classroom assignments. Classroom assignments will not be available during the ice cream social. If you do not receive the letter with your child’s classroom assignment by Tuesday, September 4th, please call our office. The first day of school for 1st – 5th Grade is Wednesday, September 5th. Curriculum Night will be September 27th from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

    For Kindergarten Families:
Jump Start for all kindergarten students is from Monday, August 20th to Friday, August 24th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. At 9 a.m., you are invited to stay and meet with our Principal during the Kindergarten Family Welcome Coffee. This is a time for us to get to know you and introduce you to who we are here at Sand Point Elementary. The first day for Kindergarten students is Monday, September 10th. This year we will be offering two days for kindergarten families to participate in a Family Connection Visit. During the Family Connection Visit, we will begin to get to know your family and child through informal conversations.

    School Hours:
For the 2018-2019 school year, student drop off will begin at 7:25 a.m. and the first bell will ring at 7:50 a.m. Our expectation is that all children will be in their classroom at 7:50 a.m. when the first bell rings. Student will be considered tardy for school after 7:55 a.m. The dismissal bell will ring at 2:25 p.m. Our expectation is that all children will be picked up, walk home or take the bus home by 2:30 p.m. at the end of each school day.

Every Wednesday, beginning on Wednesday, September 12th, we will have early dismissal at 1:10 p.m. We are continuing to partner with the YMCA for after school care. Registration information can be found at http://ykids.seattleymca.org/university-family-ymca.

    School Supplies:
The PTA purchases all classroom school supplies for students. The supply fee is $50 per child with full or partial scholarships available. The PTA will collect fees after the start of school.

We are committed to working with you to ensure that your child is able to thrive here at Sand Point Elementary. Your input is important in making our school the best it can be. We will be scheduling events throughout the school year for you to share your feedback and get information about what is happening at Sand Point Elementary.

In addition, feel free to reach out to your child’s classroom teacher to share information about your child. If you have special skills or talents that you would be interested in sharing with our school community, please let us know. Each of you is essential to helping us provide the best education for your children. Let’s work together to make this our best year yet!

    Best Regards,
